I picked this handle for Isaac for two reasons. The first
reason being the it was one of the few handles available on Instagram, the
second reason being that he becomes one of the most infamous Choctaw ghosts for
his amazing deed and selfless acts. The avatar I picked for Isaac was honestly
a little tricky to decide on. I made sure the picture was black and white so it
would look “ghostly” and more striking. This picture I found is of an actual
Choctaw boy on Google. The blurriness in the foreground ahead of the boy
represents his uncertainty of the future. The way he looks over his shoulder
represents how he longs for the past, where his biggest worries were if his
brother did his chores.
I picked this scene to portray on Isaacs instagram because
it portrays what I imagine seeing a ghost would be like for him. I also picked
this picture because it reminded me of the scene in the text where Isaac sees
people are saying goodbye to their homes and then he sees their ghosts. While the colors in the background of this
picture are bright, the ghost is still unsettling, which I imagine the scenes
would have been like for Isaac.
I chose this picture for Isaac’s Instagram because it
reminded me of when Isaac lost his little sister Nita. Her mother wrapped her
in blanket and continued to carry her through the trail. This picture also
reminded me of a quote in the book that says, “Grieving is hard, lives are
changed forever”. That quote is simple and yet strikingly tragic as well. I’m
sure this was a tough moment for Isaac that he would have posted about.
I chose this picture for Isaacs Instagram account because it
reminded me of the cover of the book. This photo also reminded me of how
ferocious Joseph was and how he was always willing to lay down his life for
anyone, whether it be Isaac, Naomi, or anyone else on the trail. Joseph used
his transforming power to help others in the bravest way possible. Joseph also
played a huge role in saving Naomi and returning her to her family, which is
why I believe Isaac would’ve posted about him on his Instagram feed.
Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the thought put into selecting the avatar image. I think it works nicely to convey what you intended. The use of hashtags was a bit unsettling at first. I am always a little judgmental of things like RIP hashtags because it seems insensitive. However, I also think it can work with Isaac's matter-of-fact narration style. He is not frequently caught up in sentimentality, even when traumatic and tragic things are occurring around him.
