Ms Marvel Category B Prompt C

I created a twitter for Kamala. I chose Kamala because I view her as a very outspoken teen who always has something to say. She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, even if it goes against her parents' teachings. I decided to use a quote for Kamala's bio because she seems like the kind of young girl that would be very passionate about reading and relating to inspirational quotes. This is also why I had her follow the "relatable quotes" account. The quote I chose for her bio is about putting the weight of the potential outcome over the risk of a situation. Kamala does this time and time again when she goes to fight injustice as Ms Marvel despite her parents' warnings and restrictions. I also had Kamala follow a couple of Avenger accounts because it is clear that she holds them as her idols in life. I had her follow Carol Danvers, who is the "original" Captain Marvel, and Tony Stark, who is Iron Man and is specifically mentioned in the story. I also had Kamala follow Malala, who is a muslim woman that I believe Kamala would look up to as a positive role model. Malala does not shy away from sensitive topics and stands up for what she believes in, much like Kamala. The final account that I chose to have Kamala follow is "everyday feminism." Kamala shows her feminist ideals when she brings up the fact that during a worship ceremony, the women are not allowed to be in the same room or on the same level as the men. She even backs up her claim by stating that the same rules did not apply at the Prophet's mosque. Kamala's tweets have a bit of an angsty feel to them, as I believe she has in the novel at times as well. She does her best to do the right thing, but she is still unmistakably a teenager trying to figure out who she is. Check out @MsMarvel111!

  1. You did a great job on who Kamala would follow if she had a twitter. Great job on the entirety of this!

  2. Hi Michelle,

I appreciate the follows you chose. Certainly Malala is a good idol for her, alongside the avengers, especially since Malala navigates the same intersection of feminism and Islam. Your tone and messages really capture the fan-fiction-writing, adolescent fangirl side of Kamala. The last two images in the post are broken links.
