Extra Credit: Pitch of an adolescent novel

  1. Hi Sam,

I think this is a great pitch. I love the idea of a graffiti-artist female rebel. I particularly like the Alice Walker recommendation: "Zita is a womanist." I am wondering about the Spanish names. While Zita doubles as a name with a cultural meaning, would Rebelde and troublemaker translate as well? If the family speaks Spanish, wouldn't it be like having a kid named Troublemaker in English? There are a few typos in the publisher's pitch, but I think you make a good case for why this text is needed and why an adolescent artist is a good figurehead for the resistance.
